Killing Joke - Killing Joke

These lads have been around for quite a while. I'm not saying that they've been around for the longest, but still a long time. This is their first release, back in 1980 and they show some pretty good potentials, and it's a good first release. The industrial rock they play seemed way ahead of its time when it was released, but is still one of the most influential bands in the gothic/industrial underground, as well as other more known bands, like Metallica who did a cover of "The Wait" from this album. The songs are quite varied with a kind of industrial echo behind them, which makes the songs more colourful and not so manufactured and plastic as some of the music business tended to be in the early 80's when new-romantic'ish pop music got in the spotlight and got all the attention. However....this band started off good with this release and it shows how they sounded from the very beginning and also shows the early industrial rock they played in a fine way.
